Respiratory protective equipment – revised Standard

A revised Standard for the Selection, use and maintenance of respiratory protective equipment, AS/NZS 1715:2009, sets out the principles of respiratory protection, requirements, and recommendations for the selection, use, and maintenance of personal respiratory protective equipment (RPE) in the workplace.

Safer dry-cleaning machines – new international Standard

A new international Standard helps dry-cleaning machine manufacturers and designers to build safer machines and reduce exposure to dry-cleaning solvents.  Dry-cleaning solvents – perchloroethylene or combustible solvents – are potentially dangerous to health.  The Standard will also help dry-cleaning manufacturers to implement a controlled approach involving engineering measures, work practices, and personal protection.

ISO 8230 Safety requirements for dry-cleaning machines, has three parts: Part 1, Common safety requirements; Part 2, Machines using perchloroethylene; and Part 3, Machines using combustible solvents.
