International oil and gas sector association promotes use of ISO international Standards

The International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP) is promoting the collaboration of OGP with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), in a new issue of its Standards Bulletin. By the end of 2008, the suite included 138 Standards and 19 are planned for 2009.

During an OGP Standards Workshop held in Kuala Lumpur in February 2009, highlighting the use of ISO international Standards for the industry, Datuk Abdullah Karim, Vice-President of Malaysia's PETRONAS company, commented, 'They have helped most of us to realise better returns for our stakeholders and more importantly, they ensure that our operations are safe.'
