Fraud – ISO joins the fight

With the global economic crisis, we are continually saturated with large numbers that reflect the billions of dollars and the millions of jobs being lost. But what often goes unnoticed is the tremendous economic cost and social impact caused by global fraud every year.

While we recognise the role of law enforcement and national legislation in fighting fraud, international Standards can also be part of the solution. The development of Standards to reduce fraud losses is a recent development, but one that many now recognise as holding potential for the future. The use of Standards by business, government, consumer groups, and law enforcement provides a cost effective, non-legislative means to develop solutions to this complex problem.

Helping the direct marketing sector to improve its environmental performance – new tool

A new tool published in January 2009 provides a method for the direct marketing (DM) industry to demonstrate its environmental credentials. Direct marketing – Environmental performance – Specification, PAS 2020:2009, is a British Publicly Available Specification.

Environmental issues relating to climate change and the excessive consumption of non-replaceable resources are a pressing concern. PAS 2020 will support the DM industry in its aims to manage these environmental impacts.

Demonstrating the requirements of complying with PAS 2020 to clients could provide direct marketing organisations with a competitive advantage in what looks set to become an increasingly competitive marketplace.
