Fire-resistant doorsets and smoke-control doors – new draft Standard available for public comment
Standards New Zealand has developed a new draft Standard Fire-resistant doorsets and smoke-control doors (DZ 4520). The draft Standard is available for public comment until 22 January 2010 and publication is scheduled for June 2010.
DZ 4520 provides manufacturers, suppliers, and installers with minimum requirements for the testing, construction, and installation of fire-resistant doorsets and smoke-control doors designed to help prevent loss of life and protect the openings in walls and elements of construction that are required to resist the passage of fire or smoke.

Committee: P4515 Revision
Project Manager: Erin Alderton
Estimated publication date: December 2009
Comments: The Standard is being revised to provide clarification to users of the Standard on what is, and what is not, a sleeping occupancy. NZS 4515 has also been updated to align with NZS 4541 where appropriate. The published formal interpretations relating to the Standard have been considered as part of the revision. Public comment finished in early August and the finalised draft will be submitted for ministerial approval in November, prior to publication in December.
