Biogas – proposed new field of work at ISO
Standards New Zealand is seeking feedback on a new field of technical activity on biogas. The Standardization Administration of China has proposed this new field of work to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Biogas is a combustible mixture of gases produced by microorganisms when manure and other biological wastes are allowed to ferment in the absence of air.
It is proposed that new Standards be developed to broaden and facilitate the commercial and private use of biogas as a source of fuel. The Standards would address a broad range of issues related to biogas, including manufacturing, testing, inspection, and quality management.
For more information, or to submit comments including support for or opposition to the proposal, please email karen.batt@standards.co.nz. Comments received will be used to form a New Zealand position on this proposal. Please provide your comments by Friday, 16 April 2010.
