Update to the Spectrum Licence modification procedure

The procedure to Modify a Spectrum Licence (Form 8) used by Approved Radio Engineers (AREs) has been updated.

The update clarifies the use of the 'Date from which modification to apply', that is, a spectrum licence modification will not take effect until that future date.

'Land mobile service' defines radiocommunications between two (or more) parties where at least one is mobile (hand-held or vehicle-mounted radio equipment). Allocation of frequencies and operating areas through radio licensing helps ensure that communication does not suffer interference from conflict between users.

Managed spectrum park applications received

Applications have been received by Radio Spectrum for access to radio spectrum in the 2.5 GHz managed spectrum park band.Potential uses for this spectrum include wireless broadband services.

850 MHz and 900 MHz cellular spectrum renewals settled

Telecom settled last month on its 850 MHz management rights, which expire this year.This completes the settlement phase to renew the 850 MHz and 900 MHz band cellular spectrum held by Telecom, 2degrees and Vodafone expiring in the 2011 and 2012 timeframe.All the rights are being renewed through to November 2031.

Code of practice for power drive systems

Radio Spectrum Management (RSM) has completed its review of the August 2011 public consultation on the Code of practice for power drive systems, and will issue a revised draft for final comment by those who have made submissions, and other key contributors.
